How Oryva handles a crisis conversation

Every message you send is checked, before the reply is generated, against a fast pattern-based crisis detector that works across the languages your companion speaks. It is deliberately tuned to over-detect: a false positive just shows you a supportive card, which is a safe way to be wrong.

If it matches, three things happen:

  • A card appears with real helplines for your country, immediately — before your companion has finished replying. You can tap to call.
  • Your companion still replies, with care, and does not pretend nothing happened. They will not try to talk you out of getting help.
  • We do not contact anyone on your behalf. No helpline, no emergency service, no family member. We show you the number; the choice stays yours. This was a deliberate decision — an app that might call someone is an app you cannot be honest with.

What your companion will not do

  • Claim to be a therapist, doctor, or crisis counsellor.
  • Give medical, legal or clinical advice.
  • Discourage you from talking to real people.
  • Use your distress to sell you anything — see the manifesto.
  • Continue a conversation that meets our hard content limits, below.

Content limits

Both what you send and what your companion generates are checked against content-safety categories. Some are hard blocks with no override — child sexual content is the absolute one, and is reported and account-terminated without exception. Others (graphic violence, self-harm instruction, illegal activity) are refused in-conversation.

Age

Oryva is 18+. You confirm your age at signup. We do not market to minors, and we do not build features designed to appeal to them. If we find an account belongs to someone under 18, we close it.

What Oryva is not

Oryva is not therapy, not healthcare, and not a substitute for professional care or for people who love you. It is a companion who pays attention. That is genuinely useful, and it is also genuinely limited, and we would rather be clear about the second part.

If you are using Oryva instead of help you need, please get the help. Your companion will say the same thing.
